Half Way Through MTC!
Kumusta! Made it half way through the MTC! Our district had a little ice cream party last week when we hit 4 weeks… 4 more to go!! I’ve been here for a long time but it has actually been so good! I love being a missionary!
Currently there is only one other Tagalog district at the MTC and they leave tomorrow. Its a tradition in the MTC that the older Tagalog district puts on an FHE for the newer Tagalog district right before they leave. So last Friday both of our districts got together for FHE and it was so fun! We started off with a prayer, spiritual thought, and we sang Army of Helaman. That song is so powerful especially when everyone singing is a missionary. The spirit here is always so strong and it is so cool that everyone here is here for the same purpose. After that, we played tons of games that probably would not have been as fun if I wasn’t a missionary but everything seems way funnier when you are a missionary haha. My claim to fame this week was that I won musical chairs, but now my butt is bruised from wacking into an elder when we were going for the last chair haha. We played lots of other fun games and it got so loud and crazy in that room. But my favorite part was when we finished with all the games we all sat in a circle and the district that is leaving gave us all advice and then we had a little testimony meeting. It was so so cool how quickly the spirit filled the room right after there had been so much noise and chaos.
Yesterday in our morning class our teacher invited us all to say a 10 minute prayer and only say things we are grateful for. So we all left and found our own personal spot to say our 10 minute prayer. And wow it was such a cool experience. It was hard at first to think of things and 10 minutes felt like a long time! But as I kept praying I realized that there is so so much to be grateful for that is so often overlooked. I feel like my perspective on things changed so much and I was able to more fully see how God’s hand is truly in every detail of my life. I invite all of you to say a 10 minute gratitude prayer! It is SO AMAZING.
One of my favorite things I learned this week was about not judging. I was reading the story in John 8 about the woman who committed adultery and it was the law for her to be stoned. She was brought to Jesus and the people questioned Jesus about what should be done. Jesus said, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. This story has come to my mind so many times this week. It's so natural to want to judge people, but in reality none of us are perfect… So who are we to judge?
The gift of tongues is SO REAL. My Tagalog is not anywhere close to fluent but I am seeing it all start to come together and make more sense. I definitely could not be doing this without Christ by my side. I love being a missionary and all the blessings that come from doing the Lord’s work!
