Law Of Chastity Lesson Gone Wrong

But spiritual thought first.

One night we were finding and just trying to talk to everyone we passed on the street. There was a woman walking in front of us who me and my companion both had a prompting to talk to. For some reason we both ignored the prompting, and we talked to another person who was passing us instead. She was not interested, and by that point we lost the woman in front of us. About 30 mins later I had a very clear prompting to go knock on the door of one of our old friends. This time I didn’t ignore it and we went to the house. No one answered. But we turned to leave, and boom, right in front of us was the woman from earlier. We went up to her and she told us that she has been searching for the true church. She has been going to all the different churches and none of them felt right to her. We told her we have a very special message about a boy named Joseph Smith who was wondering the same thing and we got a return appointment with her! I learned 2 things from this. 

Number 1: this truly is the Lord's work, not mine. Even through my mistakes, the Lord's work goes on. He knows us 18-20 year olds are inadequate and make mistakes. But he calls us to the work anyway. This woman was ready for the gospel, and the Lord made a way for her to hear it even when I ignored His prompting the first time.

Number 2: don't ignore promptings! This woman was prepared for the gospel and it is my job to share it with her! When I get a prompting I need to ACT right then. 



Ok you're gonna get so much second hand embarrassment for me when you read this: 

Had the BEST object lesson this week! We were teaching our friend John Dave (who is getting baptized this saturday) the Law of Chastity. Well John Dave just got a new puppy. So we are all sitting on the floor of his small house trying to teach the lesson and this dog would not leave me alone. 

Let's just say this dog was NOT living the law of chastity. Literally the entire lesson this dog was all over me. I would grab it and try and pin it down and then it would start humping my arm too! And he WOULD. NOT. STOP. And no one seemed to be doing anything about it! All while I'm trying to teach the law of chastity. Terrible experience. Would not recommend. 


Other than that experience, I LOVE IT HERE. Being a missionary is awesome.

Bap Date For Micah!!

Merry almost Christmas!! It definitely doesn't feel like Christmas here because its 80 million degrees. Haha enjoy the snow for me!  This week our friend Micah accepted a baptismal date! She is 16 years old and has been on and off coming to church for basically her whole life. She attends seminary and goes to FSY. She wants to be baptized so bad but her parents won't give her permission. We just recently started teaching her again and this week we taught about baptism and extended a baptismal date. The spirit was SO STRONG and she was so excited to say yes. She even asked if she could be baptized before the end of December! Her faith is so strong and she is currently praying for the courage to talk to her mom for permission. She said that even if she doesn't get permission she wants to get baptized anyway because she trusts God that it will all work out.  I'm learning and growing so much every day and I'm so grateful to be a missionary. Nanay Peed During Our Lesson

A good week! The gift of tongues is my best friend lately and it is SO REAL. The other day we had a lesson with our friend Jerry, and I had planned to speak a lot more in this lesson. Usually I just give the invitation and bear my testimony and occasionally teach a short part. But this lesson was about the restoration and I was going to be teaching a lot more and I was nervous. But we went into the lesson and I was able to contribute everything that I needed to! When I shared the first vision, the spirit was so strong in the room. It was just another confirmation to me that Joseph Smith truly is a prophet of God and he really did restore this church.  Funny backstory… before this lesson started, we were waiting in Jerrys house for him to come downstairs. He is the caretaker for his Mom who has cancer. She has a bed in the living room and I have never not seen her on that bed. Typhoon!

Hi! Been a sec! Quick update from the past 3 weeks… -We had 7 friends come to church last week!  -Jay and Denielle got baptized last Saturday and it was such a good day!  -AND A TYPHOON! I have never seen so much rain in my life. On Wednesday, it was pouring all day. Every time we came home for meals I had to change my clothes because I was drenched. It kept raining all night long and the worst of it was on Thursday. We went out Thursday morning and it was so fun I was enjoying that storm way too much haha. At one point a car drove super fast by us and it sprayed us with water and literally drenched us. It was so funny. The weather kept getting worse so unfortunately we had to go back inside and stay in for the rest of the day.  A few streets away from us, where some members live, was the worst of the Typhoon. The water went to the second floor of their house and they had no way of getting out. Very scary. But luckily the rain finally stopped and the water went low enough...
