Miracles!

Image
Hi everyone! So many small miracles happened this week but I'll just share my favorites. We were walking to a lesson of one of our friends a couple days ago and we completely walked right past his house. We had walked for like an extra 10 minutes before either of us realized that we had walked wayyyy past this guys house! Once we realized, we turned around to go back. On our way back, we found a man sitting on the curb and so we started talking to him. He was drunk and crazy, but his friend came over and was SO interested in our message and we taught him and gave him a Book of Mormon! Then we kept walking to go to our actual appointment and we found ANOTHER guy on our way who we started talking to. He said he had seen us walk by every day and he had been waiting for us! He is very lonely and has lots of struggles and he loved the message we shared with him! If we hadn't “accidentally” walked past the house we were supposed to go to, we would have never found either of those men...

A Good Week

Another week here in the Philippines. Can't believe I've been here for almost a month! Highlight of the week was that 2 of our friends accepted our baptismal invitation!! Our friend Jay, who is 25, and his niece Denielle who is 9! We have been teaching Jay for a couple of weeks now and he is really progressing! Him and Denielle live with their aunts and uncles who are all members so they have lots of support around them. Jay has been coming to church every week so far. When we first started teaching him, he was super quiet and wouldn't talk much, but he's started opening up more and getting more comfortable with asking questions and talking during our lessons. I think partly because I am slightly improving on the language and I'm able to talk with him more which makes it less awkward then both of us sitting there in silence haha. But this week we had Denielle join our lesson with Jay for the first time. We taught about baptism and they both had so much to say and we...

Nanay Peed During Our Lesson

Image
A good week! The gift of tongues is my best friend lately and it is SO REAL. The other day we had a lesson with our friend Jerry, and I had planned to speak a lot more in this lesson. Usually I just give the invitation and bear my testimony and occasionally teach a short part. But this lesson was about the restoration and I was going to be teaching a lot more and I was nervous. But we went into the lesson and I was able to contribute everything that I needed to! When I shared the first vision, the spirit was so strong in the room. It was just another confirmation to me that Joseph Smith truly is a prophet of God and he really did restore this church.  Funny backstory… before this lesson started, we were waiting in Jerrys house for him to come downstairs. He is the caretaker for his Mom who has cancer. She has a bed in the living room and I have never not seen her on that bed. So while we were waiting for Jerry, we were just talking to this old lady and then she starts to stand up (...

Met Elder Steveson!!

Hi everyone! 2nd week down! Highlight of the week was our devotional with Elder Stevenson!! It was a combined devotional with 3 missions here in the Philippines and it was sooo good. Number one because it was an apostle speaking to us and number 2 because we got to sit in an air conditioned building for 3 hours. His talk was so good. My favorite part was how he reminded us that this is exactly where we need to be right now. He told us that our call and assignment are from Heaven and that the Lord is sooo grateful for His missionaries! We got to take a picture with him and then go shake his hand and somehow he knew me! He saw my name and said Youre from Logan huh? So that was awesome idk how he knows me but so cool!!  We are teaching quite a few people right now and we are really hoping and praying that 2 of them will get baptized this month! They are cousins, Khiro and Art, and they are both so ready for baptism. They live in a tiny little house with all their cousins and aunts and...
